NO MIRES A LOS OJOS DE LA GENTE

Durante un tiempo he estado moviendo, por agencias y editoriales, una pequeña novela negra titulada NO MIRES A LOS OJOS DE LA GENTE. Algunas de las respuestas que recibí decían que mi estilo era "poco literario" (que puede ser), que habría que añadirle unas 100 páginas más para hacerla vendible (cosa que, por mi parte, no pensé que necesitara la historia) o que la novela les gustaba pero que el mercado ahora mismo sólo les permitía apostar por autores noveles que fueran personajes públicos (cosa que no soy). Supongo que también hubo quién, directamente, pensó que la novela era una mierda, pero ésos ya ni se molestaron en responder. Casi mejor.
Así que, después de que quedara finalista en un premio de novela negra y de que un productor (que hace tiempo leyó el manuscrito) se haya interesado por ella, me he decidido a dejarla salir al mundo exterior.

DO NOT LOOK AT PEOPLE'S EYES

I wrote a noir novel titled NO MIRES A LOS OJOS DE LA GENTE (DO NOT LOOK AT PEOPLE’S EYES, in English) that, for a while, I’ve been sending to publishers and agencies. Some of them wrote back saying that my style didn’t “sound very literary” (alright), that I had to add 100 more pages to it to make it marketable (pages that I did not feel the story needed) or that the novel was ok but the market was asking for first-time writers who were already public or famous personalities (which I am not). I guess there were also who thought the novel was a piece of shit, but they did not wasted their time to tell me. And I thank them so.
Now, after being finalist in a Spanish noir novel contest, and having a film producer (who read the book some time ago) interested in adapting the story, I have decided to release it to the world.
